What Makes It Glow?
The Luminous Lagoon sits where the Martha Brae River meets the Caribbean Sea in Falmouth, Trelawny Parish. This unique mix of fresh and salt water creates the perfect habitat for millions of microscopic dinoflagellates — organisms that flash brilliant blue light when the water is disturbed. Every movement of a boat, fish, or swimmer creates trails of magical light.

Bioluminescent bays exist in only a handful of places worldwide, and the Luminous Lagoon is considered one of the largest and brightest. Tour Times
Nightly at sunset (approx. 6:30 PM winter / 7:15 PM summer). Tours run 45-60 minutes.
Swimming
Yes! The lagoon is only 4-5 feet deep with warm, calm water. Swimming is optional but highly recommended.
